Hi there, thanks for that. All I can say about the Sewer Zombies is that I heard them on the John Peel radio show (1987?) and found "Reach Out And..." on vinyl, never found "Conquer the Galaxy" until now! The only other info I have found is on http://maikoholic.blogspot.com/2007/03/sewer-zombies-conquer-galaxy.html
I grew up in South Florida in the 80's and have some info on this band. Around 1983 a guy named Mark Subversive showed up in town and started a label called Subversive, he also had a studio in his house where he recorded alot of local punk bands. His label was the first to release anything by Shonen Knife in the states, and he also released some records by German HC band Inferno. I believe the only local band he ever released through Subversive was We The Living. The Sewer Zombies was an in-house recording project. The drums were done by Mega, the drummer of WTL, and Mark played all the rest of the instruments. Later, Mark did a similar project called The Church Jocks, which I played the drums on, but I don't know if it was ever released.Mark ripped some folks off allegedly and had to split town fast, he later resurfaced in Arizona. When the Dead Kennedys came through Miami in 87, Jello Biafrarequested that The Sewer Zombies open. Not having a band, but not wanting to pass up the opportunity Mark threw together a slapdash live incarnation at the last minute. Hope that is helpful. The record is truly truly amazing and unique.
Many thanks for filling in the information gap concerning this band. This in-house thing does explain the 'vibe' of the Sewer zombies records. Never heard of the Church Jocks, i must confess.
Hey there. I bought this on vinyl second hand in Hairy Records in Liverpool (UK) when i was about 17 because i liked the cover and the band name. I think i listened to 10 seconds of it back then and filed it away until i came across it today. I'm now 23 and this is truly odd but fantastic nonetheless. A lot of it sounds like My Bloody Valentine fronted by a psychopath playing video games.
